  • The 30 seconds that make 9pm easier
Today’s letter
One thing to do in your kitchen before dinner tonight
The Halloween candy went up in her grocery store this month. Orange bags, six weeks early, stacked in a display at the end of the aisle. A woman put one in her cart because the kids will want it, because it was two for one, and because it is September and that is what the store was selling.
That bag sat on her counter for eleven days. At nine o’clock she was not hungry. She had eaten dinner, and a decent one… but every time she walked past the counter, something in her went off like a doorbell. By the twelfth night the bag was empty and she was standing there in the dark, wondering what was wrong with her.
“Why can’t I walk past it?”
She is not a person who gives up on things. Two kids, raised on a schedule she built herself, and she has never once missed a payment on anything. Ask anyone who works with her and they will tell you she is the one who holds everything together. The only thing she has never been able to hold the line on is a bag of something sweet sitting eight feet from where she sits down at night.
For years the advice was the same in every magazine and every doctor’s office: be more disciplined, keep it out of the house, distract yourself for fifteen minutes and the urge will pass. So she tried all of it. When none of it held, she decided the problem was her character, because that was the only explanation anyone had ever given her.
Here’s what gets me.
None of it was her fault.

How to fade dark spots from head to toe

It closes down a biological pathway that controls how fast dark spots can be forced to fade.

Dark spots aren't just blemishes… they don’t fade easily.

And they can make you look YEARS older than you actually are.

The good news is that we made a breakthrough discovery… harnessing the latest AI technology…

That revealed the ROOT cause of dark spots isn’t sun damage…

Hormonal imbalances…

And it has absolutely NOTHING to do with personal hygiene.

Instead, it’s a previously unrecognized biological pathway that causes dark spots to keep popping up.

You can find out what it is in this video…

How to shut down this pathway to fade the look of dark spots…

And enjoy porcelain pure looking skin on your face, your hands, your arms, and everywhere else on your body in as little as 15 days:

>>>New “dark spot melting” technique that's 20X better than anything else you’ve tried

To showing off smooth, bright, and youthful skin in as little as 15 days

Let me show you how I know. Not with my opinion, but with a study.
In March, researchers at the University of East Anglia published a paper in the journal Appetite. They sat 76 people at a computer with electrodes on their scalps, measuring the electrical activity coming off the brain. The game itself was simple. Certain choices earned a picture of a snack: chocolate, candy, chips, popcorn.
Halfway through, they stopped everything and fed each person that snack. Not a polite little portion. They ate until they did not want any more of it at all, and then the game started up again.
What they found
University of East Anglia, 2026. Sambrook et al., Appetite.
The brain (no change)
The reward signal fired at a picture of that same snack just as strongly as it had before they ate. Being full did not turn it down at all.
The body (said stop)
The same 76 people said they no longer wanted the food, and their choices in the game showed it. Their fullness was real, and it was working.
Her stomach did its job. The picture of the food went around it.
In other words, her body was telling her it was done. The part of her brain that reacts to the sight of food never got that message.
Her willpower had nothing to do with it. Yours doesn’t either.
Why would a brain be built that way?
For most of human history, the sight of something sweet and fatty meant a rare chance you could not afford to pass up, so the brain learned to flag it hard and keep flagging it. That worked fine when the flagging happened twice a year. Food companies have spent sixty years testing the exact ratio of sugar, salt and fat that makes a product hard to put down, and just as long making the bag look like the thing your brain has been trained to shout about. The researchers also looked at whether people who are good at careful, goal-directed decisions had brains that cooled off more. Being disciplined made no difference, because the signal fires below the level where discipline lives.
She never stood a chance with that bag on the counter. Neither do you, I’d bet.
That’s the part no one says out loud… the fullness was never the problem. The seeing was.
Try this today
Pick the one food that gets you every night. Tonight, before dinner, take it off the counter and put it where your eye does not land: behind a cabinet door, inside a tin you cannot see through, on the shelf above your head. If it lives in a clear jar, tip it into something solid. Do the same with the bowl by the coffee pot, if you keep one there. The whole thing takes about thirty seconds, and you only have to do it once.
You are not fighting the craving. It never has to start.
Promise me you’ll try it today? Saying it out loud is half of what makes it stick.
I’m in. I’ll try it today →
None of this makes the wanting go away, and I would not tell you it does. The study suggests that reward signal keeps firing whether you are full or not, so there is no arguing with it. What you can do is give it less to fire at, and a cabinet door does exactly that.
The woman with the orange bag worked this out on her own, about four years later. She put the candy in the garage on a high shelf, not because she had read a study, but because she got tired of losing the same fight in the same eight feet of kitchen. Her nights got easier inside of a week.
There’s still time for you, and it will not take four years. Thirty seconds and a cabinet door is the whole of it.
And if you have spent twenty years calling this a discipline problem…
It was never your fault.

P.S. How many feet is it from where you sit at night to the nearest bag of something? Just the number. Hit reply, and tomorrow I’ll tell you how you compare.
